The Marietta S. Lipomi Foundation was created to honor the memory of my wife Babe, as well as a means to recognize and assist others who are traveling the same roads we have with cancer.

In 2004, Babe was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer.  In one day, life as we knew it was forever changed.

On October 11, 2022, Babe succumbed to cancer.  For 18 years, Babe bravely fought through all the consequences of which cancer brings.  From the realization that you have a terminal disease, to having to stop the career that you loved, through debilitating treatments, through the ups and downs of test results and through the knowing, everyday that the life you loved, with the people you loved was forever at jeopardy.

Babe was so much more than a cancer patient.  Babe was a strong, intelligent, loving person that tried her best to always help others in need.  Countless times while we were at Roswell Park, other patients stated that Babe gave them hope as well as support for their caretakers/families.

It has been said that you only die when you are no longer spoken about.

Through the MSL Foundation, our goal is to keep Babe’s gift of helping others and memory alive.
